Key Information
PE:
- RGB’s PE sessions will be on a Thursday afternoon.
- Your child will need their named PE kit (t-shirt, leggings/joggers/shorts) in school every week.
- Please ensure all PE kits and school uniform (including socks, underwear and shoes) are named.
- Please ensure PE kits are in school at all times.
- We will send home PE kits at half term to be washed; please can it be returned on the first day back.
Move More often support our PE lessons, interventions and after school clubs too! This will help to support your child’s gross and fine motor development as well as strengthening your child’s core muscles and love for being active and healthy!
Forest School:
- RGB’s Forest School sessions are on a Wednesday afternoon.
- Please ensure that your child brings their forest school kit to school every week. Please ensure they bring suitable, warm and waterproof outdoor clothing and welly boots, which is allowed to get muddy. The all in one rain suits are a great idea, as the children can wear these over their uniform!
- We will go out to Forest School in all weather conditions, so please pack suitable clothing that is named in your forest school kit bag.
- Welly boots also need to be named, and these will stay in school to be used in the EYFS outdoor area!
- Please ensure all Forest School kits and school uniform (including socks, underwear and shoes) are named.
Reading at Home:
- We will change your child’s reading book once a week when we have heard everyone read at school. Your child will be given new books on a Friday.
- Regular reading at home is key in supporting your child to make progress in their reading and learning.
- Reading books given to your child will be chosen at a level that they can read some words and will need to decode others using their phonic knowledge. Some books come without words to start with! Just talk about the pictures and what you think is happening.
- Don’t worry if your child has had the book before, we always say that a good book is worth reading more than once!
- It is helpful to us if you could sign or initial in your child’s reading record book/log sheet to show that you have read at the book at home 4 times and are ready for a change.
Homework:
- At the end of every week we will send home copies of the sounds that have been learnt with a few short activities to support your child’s learning. Please ensure homework folders are in book-bags on a Friday so that we can put the new sounds for the week in.
- Just a reminder that your child’s school book-bag is one of the main forms of communication between home and school and needs to be checked daily. Please ensure your child brings their book bag to school every day 😊
- Please can we ask that you check all school uniform and belongings; coats, shoes, hats, gloves, scarfs have your child’s name in it. Without a name, it makes it tricky to reunite them if they have gone missing. Thank you!
The EYFS Curriculum
The EYFS recognises that children need to be able to use concrete experiences to provide the building blocks for their learning. Based on this, the learning ethos behind EYFS encourages a mix of play-based and adult led learning.
