Meet the Team

Mrs Hall – Head Teacher

Mrs Hall is the Head Teacher at Great Oldbury Primary Academy. She is an established senior leader within the GLA Trust. Mrs Hall has experience teaching and leading in both pre school and Early Years and also works as an Early Years moderator for our Trust. 

In her spare time, Mrs Hall enjoys walking her three dogs, Riley, Ralph and Ronnie, in the countryside near where she lives. She also enjoys spending time with her family.

 

Our ethos is underpinned by our school vision, Dream, Believe, Achieve. Our school is ambitious for all. Our whole school community is actively encouraged to dream big and have the courage to make their dreams a reality. Our children are encouraged to think for themselves, to be problem solvers, be creative and imaginative and embrace new challenges. I look forward to welcoming you all to our school in September and meeting everyone very soon.

 

Mrs Wiggall - Assistant Head Teacher and Year 1/2 class teacher

Mrs Wiggall is the Assistant Head Teacher and Year 1/2 Class teacher. She has worked across many schools within the GLA Trust in both a teaching and leadership capacity. Mrs Wiggall has lots of experience in teaching in Key Stage 1 and is a Maths Associate and moderator for the trust.  

In her spare time, Mrs Wiggall loves spending time with her family including her 2 children who keep her very busy. She enjoys watching musicals and having a dance around the house! 

 

Miss Goodman - Early Years Lead and SENDCO

Miss Goodman is the Early Years Foundation Stage Lead and SENDCO. She is an experienced EYFS teacher. Miss Goodman has experience teaching Pre-School, Reception and Year One in a variety of schools in Gloucestershire.

In her spare time, Miss Goodman loves to spend time with her family and friends, baking delicious cakes, dancing and getting stuck into some arts and crafts. Miss Goodman’s favourite colour is pink and you can be sure to find a hint of pink and glitter wherever she goes!

 

In EYFS at Great Oldbury we support our children in believing and achieving to their full potential, both academically and personally and in developing a love for learning. We support all our children; nurturing their individuality, celebrating their character and giving them the confidence to; Dream, Believe and Achieve. I cannot wait to welcome all our Little Learners and Reception children as we start our exciting learning journey together at our brand new school! 

 

Mrs Briscombe - Reception/Year 1 Class Teacher

 Mrs Briscombe teaches in EYFS. She is passionate and experienced Early Years Teacher who loves welcoming children into school. Mrs Briscombe enjoys supporting children to learn through play and encourages them to thrive in their education. She has taught in a range of schools across Gloucestershire. Mrs Briscombe spends most of her spare time with her family and little boy, having lots of cuddles, going swimming and taking long walks. She also loves spending time with her friends and her family dog, Bear.

 

Miss Cann - Reception Class Teacher

Miss Cann is a qualified primary teacher,  having experience working in both Early Years and Key Stage 1 classrooms across the GLA Trust. Miss Cann is passionate about Early Years and inspiring learning through play.  

Miss Cann loves spending time with her dog, Ralphie, and going on long dog walks in the sunshine. In her spare time, Miss Cann enjoys reading exciting stories and doing arts and crafts.  Her favourite colour is yellow! 

 

Miss Allen - Reception Class Teacher

Miss Allen is a qualified primary teacher with a specialism and passion for Early Years. Miss Allen teaches in Reception and has brought her knowledge of Early Years good practice to enhance the transition from Reception to Year 1. Miss Allen has experience of teaching within EYFS and KS1 in a variety of settings across the county.

In her spare time, Miss Allen loves to go on walks with her dog, cooking and spending time with her family, and her favourite colour is yellow

Miss Caddy - Year 1 Class Teacher

Miss Caddy has spent lots of time teaching in different year groups, but Year One has a very special place in her heart. She loves creating a fun and exciting classroom where everyone feels happy and ready to learn! When she's not at school, she is usually off on adventures with her little girl, Rose, and her cheeky dog, Rollie. Miss Caddy also loves playing netball, exploring the outdoors, and discovering new places around England (and sometimes even further away!).

Mrs Hancock - Year 1/2 Class Teacher

 Mrs Hancock has been teaching for 18 years in Gloucestershire and has joined the GLA for her second-year, teaching Year One/Two on Mondays- Wednesdays. She has a passion for Early Years and has ensured that these principles have stayed in her practice. She has taught Reception, Year One and Year Two. Mrs Hancock also works as a county adviser for the Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning team where she supports Gloucestershire schools with their delivery of the PSHE curriculum and supporting schools with Mental Health and Wellbeing. You will also find her in the local pottery studio helping children and adults make things out of clay or pottery painting.

 In her spare time, she enjoys spending it with her family and her two crazy spaniels exploring the county, cooking yummy treats, escaping escape rooms and playing with clay!

Miss Clutterbuck - Year 2 Class teacher

Miss Clutterbuck is class teacher in our year 2 class. Her favourite subjects are Religious Education, Computing, PE, and English. She encourages all children to try their best, show drive and resilience and take pride in everything they do. In her spare time, she loves spending time by the coast, exploring new places, and enjoying time with her family and friends. She enjoys being outdoors and loves playing lots of different ​sports.

Miss Holmes - Year 3 Class teacher

Miss Holmes is a qualified primary school teacher and has been at Great Oldbury Primary Academy since the beginning of her first placement during her PGCE year. She has a passion for learning and loves bringing enthusiasm and creativity into her classroom. Miss Holmes enjoys spending her free time walking her dog, Simba, spending time with her friends and family and enjoying trips away in the sunshine.  

Miss Reeve - Year 4 Class teacher

Mrs Chandler - Teaching assistant

Mrs Chandler supports children in our Year 1 and Year 2 classes and has a passion for phonics. Mrs Chandler runs a wide variety of small group and 1-1 interventions such as ELS phonics, reading and spelling which provide additional support to any child who needs it across both year 1 and year 2.
In her spare time Mrs Chandler enjoys spending time with her 2 children, doing crochet and some gardening. Her favourite colour is pink and her favourite food is pizza.

Miss Hughes - Teaching assistant

Miss Hughes currently works in our EYFS class supporting children with additional needs. She has many skills ranging from Makaton, to specialist knowledge in working with children with autism and also running 1:1 nurture sessions for children who require pastoral support. 

Miss Peters - Teaching assistant

Miss Peters is our highly talented Teaching Assistant and also our Forest School teacher. In the mornings, she can be found supporting our children in KS2 with a range of subjects from phonics, to writing to maths and even some small group interventions. In the afternoons, Miss Peters can be found in our Forest School area where she runs whole class sessions for all classes across our school. Miss Peters loves to share her passion for the outdoors with both the children and staff at Great Oldbury. 

Mrs Harris - Teaching assistant

 Mrs Harris joined GOPA as a Teaching Assistant in September 2023.  She has worked across the GLA Trust in a number of roles from TA to supply teacher.  In 2020 she qualified as a teacher.  She has 3 grown up step-children.  In her spare time she likes to watch rugby with her husband and take care of her pet chinchilla.

 

Mrs Baxter - Teaching assistant

Hello, my name is Mrs Baxter! My favourite colour is pink and I have 1 cat called Boo. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have previously worked in schools for 9 years, where I was a dinner lady and class TA. I have also previously looked after people as a carer. I enjoy working with the children at GOPA in the role play area and creating lots of lovely arts and crafts!" 

Mrs McHale - Teaching assistant

Mrs McHale has over 13 years experience as a teaching assistant in EYFS. She is ELSA trained and is passionate that every child has the opportunity to develop emotionally into happy, confident, and resilient individuals.

Mrs McHale has also work in a specialised trauma informed setting, providing 1:1 support. 

She enjoys in her spare time taking long walks with her dog Gus, cooking, swimming, and spending time with family and friends having fun and making memories.  

Mrs Collins - PPA teacher

Mrs Collins works in both Year 3 and 4 covering PPA but you may also find her in other year groups from time to time!  She has a wealth of experience supporting children across EYFS, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two to achieve their very best. When she’s not at school she’s a busy Mum to three little girls, enjoys cooking-especially baking, is an avid reader and LOVES musicals! 

Miss Garrett - School administrator

Miss Garrett is our school administrator who is always available to help children, staff and parents with whatever they need. She can answer questions all about life at Great Oldbury and is more than happy to lend a hand to whoever needs it. 

 

 

I love to travel and enjoying holidays with my Daughter whenever we can. In my spare time I enjoy baking, hula hooping, walking and spending time with my family and friends. My favourite food is Chinese and my favourite colour is pink.

Mr Thomas - School caretaker

Mr Thomas (known to all as Barry!) is our school caretaker and handyman. There is no job too big or too small for Mr Thomas and he is always building fabulous creations around school to enhance our learning environments. Mr Thomas can also often be seen at many of our other GLA schools lending a hand to those who need it!
